Everyone is born with gifts - life itself is the most precious of them.  (Adam)

Well, growing up in East Germany was an adventure in itself and I’m very grateful to have had that experience. It certainly makes living in Canada an incredible luxury. And the cherry on the cake, (I’m not crazy about icing), is being able to call magnificent Vancouver ‘home’, especially on those sunny days......!

Back in Germany, I played basketball competitively for more than 12 years and coached several years. I also enjoyed track and field, cycling, running, soccer, swimming and other sports.

When I first graduated as a physiotherapist/massage therapist I worked in a government owned polyclinic. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, I opened my own clinic with a partner and we had 5 employees. That same year we started the first self-help group for people living with Multiple Sclerosis in my hometown. We provided weekly physiotherapy and massages, and now – 21 years later - it is still ongoing. J

I also met my husband in Germany, a Canadian, and in 1998 we moved to Canada’s west coast, where I’ve been ever since. The first two years I worked as a support worker in Chilliwack; a wonderful experience. Unfortunately Canada doesn’t recognize the German physiotherapy education. When I was finally brave enough to go back to school I studied at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy to get my Canadian massage therapy certification. I can happily say I have found the profession for me and after more than 20 years – this is still ringing true. I feel so lucky J. Oh, yeah, and I was able to volunteer providing treatments at the International Police and Fire Games in Vancouver in 2009. That was fun! In pursuit of the athletic interest in me, I am currently training as a sports massage therapist. The other field where I would like to be able to provide more treatment and support is in (breast) cancer care, pre/post surgery, to help with scar healing, tissue mobility, flexibility, personal comfort and well-being. If you, or anyone you know, could benefit from this specific treatment, please, please let them know.
After contacting the MS Society in 2001 I became an active member and presently chair the Board of Directors for the Lower Mainland Chapter and am passionate about seeing an end to this nasty disease very soon. Please check their website at
MS Society/LMC  if you'd like to find out more or get involved.

Hmmm, and otherwise I love to travel, cook, take photographs, walk, dream, nurture my green thumb and live fully every day.

....and I wish you can do the same. J
